Scarborough and Whitby's MP says roadwork information provided to the public is often misleading.
Finding roadworks on the roads you use frequently is always frustrating but trying to understand the information provided by local authorities about when roadworks are going to take place can be even more so.
Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill says the way that the current system works is very confusing for residents and local businesses, many of whom need to be able to make alternative plans for journeys and deliveries during periods of disruption.
Mr Goodwill says he has received calls from many local people alarmed by the information they have received about roadworks in the area.
The former transport minister says the way the current system works is too vague, with utility companies who need to carry out works being given month long windows to carry out just a few days of works.
Mr Goodwill says there have been recent examples on the Yorkshire Coast.
