
An increasing number of COVID cases is adding to pressure in what is normally the busiest few weeks of the year.
Hospital Services in North Yorkshire are under pressure according to the NHS in the county.
The normal January peak in workload is being added to by an increasing number of COVID cases and an increase in the number of slips and falls in this weeks icy conditions.
There are currently 271 patients being treated for COVID in the counties hospitals that's up 70 on a week ago, 40 of those are in Scarborough.
Amanda Bloor from the NHS in North Yorkshire says the situation is not as bad as elsewhere in the country but is concerning.
The number of COVID cases is increasing in the county and the trend is upwards. Amanda says that is putting more pressure on the hospitals at what is usually their busiest time of the year.
