
The Yorkshire Coast is said to be in a strong position to make the best of it's beaches ahead of the summer season.
The local bathing water partnership say good progress has been made in the drive to achieve "excellent" ratings for all the areas beaches.

The partnership say good progress has been made but accepts there is more work to do, especially at Scarborough South bay where the water quality has now been upgraded from poor to sufficient.
Local Councillor David Jeffels feels things are moving in the right direction.
The bathing water partnership say there has been a distinct improvement in bathing water quality over the last seven years since the current bathing water directive was introduced.
The Scarborough Borough now has five beaches classed as having excellent bathing waters and with the improvement at Scarborough South Bay in the most recent set of data the borough now has no beaches classed as poor.
