Work on Scarborough Hospital's £47m redevelopment has started even though the final sign off for the project has not yet been given.
The York and Scarborough Hospital trust say they are so confident the scheme will go ahead that they've started some of the enabling work.
Mark Steen is the trust's Director of Property Management, he says work is already underway.
Final approval for the 47 million pound redevelopment of Scarborough Hospital is expected to be given in the next few weeks.
The project will deliver a new building for the Hospital providing a combined Emergency Department, Same Day facilities and Acute
Medical Unit as well as combined level 1, 2 and 3 Critical Care facilities. Work will take place at a number of locations across the site.
Mark Steed says the early start on the work will enable the scheme to start ahead of schedule, he says the full redevelopment will bring enormous benefit to both patients and staff.
Mark says the design of new new emergency unit utilises the latest modern designs for hospital facilities.
A Number of visualisations have been created to show what the finished building will look like.
