The Magpie Cafe in Whitby has been named one of the UK's top 10 fish and chip restaurants in the prestigious Fry Awards 2025.
The awards, run by FRY Magazine, celebrate the best fish and chip businesses across the UK.
The judging process, which took place over several months, involved secret diners assessing various factors including:
- food quality
- cleanliness
- staff expertise
- value for money
- ease of ordering
- social media presence.
Only businesses scoring 96% or above received an award. The Magpie Cafe was one of only 10 restaurants to make the top 10 list, demonstrating their commitment to quality and customer service.
Reece Head, the competition organiser, said:
“Congratulations to this year’s award winners! Another year has passed and, once again, these shops have shown resilience, adapting to today’s challenges with remarkable dedication.
At a time when inflationary pressures are being felt, these businesses continue to stay positive and prioritise their customers, maintain exceptional standards, and find innovative ways to keep fish and chips affordable".
