Whitby Town have teamed up with the Regatta to have Saturday's match ball delivered in a unique manner.
It's a big weekend for Whitby, the town's annual regatta gets underway on Saturday and Whitby Town start their new season with a home game against Atherton Collieries.
The regatta will see the Red Arrows appearing on Sunday and fireworks on Monday.
Saturday's activities include a display by RAF Falcons who for a time will be 'out on loan' to Whitby Town Football club for a special event.
As Chief Exec Graeme Hinchliffe explains, the regatta will be quite literally dropping in to the Towbar Express Stadium.
Unfortunately there wont be any massive 'parachute payment' for Whitby Town, just the delivery of the match ball, but Graeme says it will be a unique occasion and might attract some extra supporters.
All RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team Members are drawn from the personnel of Airborne Delivery Wing, based at RAF Brize Norton.
Each RAF Falcons Team member undertakes continual advanced training as a Parachute Jumping Instructor in preparation for future employment. Once they have finished their three-year tour with the team they will return to their Royal Air Force duties, in support of the Parachute Regiment, the Royal Marines and other specialist units.
They were booked as part of the Regatta weekend events. The Regatta and Football Club management teams have worked together to stage the special opening to the football season.
Whitby Town finished their pre-season in style with a 9-0 win over Redcar Athletic. On Thursday, the club announced they had signed one of the players on that score-sheet. Former Middlesbrough Academy midfielder Alfie Doherty is a 19-year-old agile and technical midfielder who joins the Seasiders following a successful trial in Tuesday night's friendly against Redcar.
Kick off at the Towbar Express Stadium is at 3pm, the match ball is expected to arrive by parachute at around 2:15pm
