Whitby Town stay bottom of the NPL Premier after a 2-0 defeat at Marine on Saturday.
The Seasiders conceded once in each half at the Merseyside outfit.
They felt one of those strikes was offside and also were aggrieved after dominating the closing stages and having newcomer Harvey Tomlinson's strike hit the underside of the crossbar and bounce over the line. However, the officials were unsighted and didn't allow the goal.
Whitby Town manager Nathan Haslam told Whitby Town TV their hosts' finishing made the difference:
Town face their sixth successive away game, on Tuesday night, when they travel to Morpeth Town.
