Parts of Whitby are "disappearing under a jungle of grass".
That's the complaint local councillors say they are hearing from residents.
Grass cutting has become a problem in the town with residents saying many areas are now overgrown.
Councillor Neil Swannick says the problem stems from issues with the grass cutting service provided by a local housing provider.
Housing provider Beyond Housing says it's experiencing problems with it's grass cutting contractor they say:
"The delay in grass cutting is due to a combination of factors. The contractor faced challenges in mobilising the contract which has delayed the first cuts in some areas. Additionally, the wet weather in April and early May, coupled with the transition to a new contractor who needed time to familiarise themselves with the rounds and locations for cutting, further contributed to the delay."
In an update on their website Beyond Housing say
"We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience as we continue to work with our grounds maintenance contractor, Ground Control, to restore our service to its usual standard. We understand this has been a frustrating time for everyone, but would like to assure you that we are making good progress.
We have agreed to appoint and additional contractor to work alongside Ground Control to help us get back on track with our grounds maintenance commitments as quickly as possible."
"Once again, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. We are committed to providing you with a high-quality service and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to improve the current situation."
It's understood the additional Groundwork contractor started operations in the Redcar and Cleveland areas last week, it's not know if that service will be extended to Whitby.
Local councillor - Neil Swannick - says he's talking to North Yorkshire Council staff to see what can be done
Beyond Housing have created a webpage where residents can report crass cutting issues, it can be found at https://beyondhousing.co.uk/grass-cutting/
