Plans for a new bike track have been backed by the town council.
A floodlit pump track for bikes could be built in Whitby.
The town council is backing the project which could see the facility built close to the towns existing skate park.
Nick Henderson is helping drive the project and says there is strong local support for it.
A number of sites have been investigated as potential locations for the pump track and two are being put forward as preferred locations.
The first site is on North Terrace alongside the existing Skate Park and is the preferred site of the team behind the project.
A second potential site has been identified next to Whitby Bowling Club.
The team behind the project say locating next to the existing skatepark would have a number of benefits and create a "mini Wheels Hub"
Nick Henderson says that ideally the track would be flood lit
Whitby Town council received a presentation about the proposal at a full council meeting this week and voted to funny support the project.
Councillor Anne Brown says it would be a welcome development in the town.
The project team say they have support from a number of local construction companies. They will need to apply for planning permission before the scheme can progress.
