Whitby Coastguard Officer Marks 20 Years of Service

Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team congratulate Don Crank on achieving 20 years of service.

Donald Crank joined the Whitby rescue team in November 2000.

Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team's Station Officer William Cook said,

"20 years of service is a significant milestone because of the level of commitment that it represents. Don is an extremely dedicated and professional member of Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team. Throughout the past 20 years, Don has been prepared to selflessly drop everything at a moments notice to answer the call of the pager to assist those in difficulty along our coast.

Over the years, Don has become qualified in the full range of skills used by the team, including Rope Rescue Technician and Officer In Charge. Through his long service, skill and vast knowledge as a Coastguard Rescue Officer Don has become - and will remain - a highly respected and essential part of the team at Whitby and I would like to congratulate Don on achieving 20 years with the team and thank him for his service so far."

Senior Coastal Operations Officer, Steve Hart, said:

“HM Coastguard would like to thank Don for his 20 years' service, dedication and commitment he has given and so far. Don is a core member of the Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team and has attended hundreds of incidents over the last 20 years.

I would also like to take the time to thank his family for their total support throughout the time that Don has been involved with the Rescue Team.

Unfortunately we can't celebrate this achievement with Don in the way we usually would. However, when circumstances permit, we look forward to celebrating with Don and presenting him with his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal at a suitable point in the future."
