North Yorkshire is leading the way with the creation of virtual hospital ward beds.
The local Integrated Care Board says the idea of the virtual beds is to enable some frail patients to be looked after in their own homes rather than in a hospital ward.
A total of 40 frailty virtual ward beds have been established in the county which is largest number across the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Car System.
Dr Bruce Willoughby is Clinical Place Director (North Yorkshire) at the NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board. He says the model is working well in the county.
The recently created NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board also says that Urgent Care Services across a large swathe of North Yorkshire are in the process of being reorganised.
A new North Yorkshire and York Urgent Care Board has been established and is looking at redesigning the way urgent care services are delivered.
Dr Bruce Willoughby says the reorganisation will bring benefits to patients in Scarborough and Whitby.
