Vaccine Bus for Bridlington

Tuesday, 13 July 2021 08:09

By Matthew Pells & Joe Gerrard, Local Democracy Reporter

An NHS Vaccine Bus will be stopping in Bridlington on Friday.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has revealed the stops for its new vaccine Health and Wellbeing bus.

The bus is set to visit Bridlington on Friday this week with no appointment needed to get a vaccine.

It will also visit  Beverley on Wednesday and Goole on Saturday.

The mobile jab unit has so far made two four hour stops in Hornsea and Withernsea.

The CCG says it has launched its vaccine bus despite the success of the East Riding roll out because of the area’s “large rural” nature.

The organisation says:

"Working with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, City Health Care Partnership and East Yorkshire Motor Services we have set up a Health and Wellbeing bus that will travel to towns and villages throughout East Riding, giving you the flexibility and convenience to simply hop on board and get vaccinated.

If you are struggling to get vaccinated, then please take up the opportunity to visit the bus when it comes to your area.

Whilst no appointment is necessary, the bus can only hold a limited number of vaccines safely and to ensure we stick to social distancing guidelines please be weather prepared."

It is aimed at those who may have had difficulties getting a vaccine at a centre in the East Riding or who have otherwise been unable to have a jab so far.

CCG Chair Dr Anne Jeffries said she urged anyone in the area who has not had a vaccine to come to the centre for the “life saving” jabs.

Dr Jeffries added:

“I would also strongly advise that having the second dose is vital to getting longer lasting and maximum protection offered by the vaccines, with recent research also showing they are highly effective against the Delta strain of the virus.”

The bus will be at New Pasture Land Community Centre in Bridlington, from 11am to 3pm on Friday (July 16th)
