The volunteer rescue team were kept busy on Emergency Services Day yesterday.
The team's first call came in at 20:24 last night when the team were called out by North Yorkshire Police to a lady who had reported herself lost in the vicinity of Reighton.
She had been walking along the coast but headed up the cliffs once the incoming tide got close to her. In failing light she had found herself lost and stuck on steep wooded ground. Suffering from a pre existing medical condition she was also concerned about her lack of medication. The team used their PhoneFind utility to determine her exact position and called her by phone to reassure her that help was on the way before asking the police to task the local coastguard cliff rescue team to take her to safety.
Six minutes later the team received a second call from North Yorkshire Police following reports that a gentleman who had been searching for a lost mobile phone in the area of Falling Foss, had not returned to his vehicle before darkness set in.
A hasty search party dispatched to scene but were stood down when we they advised the gentleman had found his way back to his car safe and well.
