Sukar Return for Whitby Town

Whitby Town have announced that defender Jassem Sukar will re-join the club ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The 27-year-old will make the switch back to the Towbar Express Stadium prior to the new campaign, following two years at Darlington, where he departed to after leaving the Seasiders in 2022.

Sukar becomes the club's sixth arrival of the summer after putting pen to paper on a deal with Whitby Town.

The former Sunderland Academy defender, who can play centrally or on the left of defence, featured 63 in all competitions across two seasons with the Quakers, while he also became a regular in the Scarborough Athletic backline while on loan during the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Commenting on his return to the Towbar Express Stadium, Sukar said he's glad to be back.

Sukar left for Darlington two years ago, but didn't see much action with them last season, spending the tail end on loan at Scarborough.

Sukar says he's learnt a lot during his time away from the Towbar Stadium.

Whitby have already lined up a bust pre-season list of fixtures including:

  • 6 July - 3pm - Bishop Auckland (H)
  • 9 July - 7:30pm - Billingham Town (H)
  • 13 July - 3pm - Redcar Athletic (A)
  • 17 July - 7pm - York City (H)
  • 23 July - 7:30pm - Guisborough Town (A)
  • 27 July - 3pm - Spennymoor Town (A)
  • 3 August - 3pm - Stockton Town (H)
