As the COVID infection rate increases in North Yorkshire, health leaders encourage anyone not yet vaccinated to come forwards.
The number of new COVID cases recorded in North Yorkshire increased last week as the county's infection rate also jumped up.
The county's Director of Public Health, Louise Wallace, says everyone needs to continue take care.
Despite a large rise in the number of new COVID cases in North Yorkshire last week the number of hospital patients with the virus remains fairly static.
Amanda Bloor from the NHS in the county thinks that's down to the number of people who have now been vaccinated, she's calling for anyone who hasn't yet been jabbed to come forward.
In it's latest residents newsletter, Scarborough Borough Council echoed the call for people,to come forward for vaccination saying:
"There has been a rise in cases on our borough after an outbreak in two schools involving the Delta variant which is more transmissible.
Although the situation is being managed and is under control, it does serve as a reminder that the virus can – and will – spread in our communities.
One way you can help is to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine, if you haven’t already. If you’ve had a first jab, make sure you have the second one when invited.
Public health officials are calling on us all, but particularly families with school aged children, to keep taking the freely available lateral flow tests twice a week.
The tests are proving to be effective at early diagnosis of Covid-19 in people showing no symptoms, which helps to prevent onward transmission of the virus."
