
Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate has risen slightly as the country moves closer to the further relaxation of lockdown measures.
The seven day infection rate per 100,000 people in Scarborough is now 28, a rise of four on Friday.
Despite the increase in the rate the borough is still averaging four new cases every day.
The average infection rate in England is now 58 per 100,000 while in North Yorkshire as a whole it is 46. North Yorkshire’s rate has risen by five since Friday.
In two weeks’ time on Monday March 29 the Government’s “stay at home” order is due to end with groups of six or two households allowed to meet outdoors.
Some outdoor sports activities will also reopen but people will still be urged to work from home where possible.
Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
