Areas of the Yorkshire Coast which are experiencing problems due to a lack of public toilets are being asked to think about running the facilities locally.
Should parish councils step in to provide public toilets in some of the Yorkshire Coasts' towns and villages?
That's the question posed by Scarborough Borough councils cabinet member for neighbourhoods, Tony Randerson.
Following comments about a lack of toilet facilities in Runswick Bay Councillor Randerson thinks more local solutions could be the answer.
Cut backs to public toilets in the Scarborough borough over recent years have seen a number of facilities closed.
Now with the easing of lockdown there is a concern that as the visitors return the existing facilities wont be up to the job in some areas and that other places don't have any provision at all.
Councillor Jane Mortimer says Fylingdales Parish Council took matters in to it's own hands and by charging for the use of the facilities has managed to make operating local public conveniences cost neutral.
