There are calls for North Yorkshire Council to hold some of it's meetings in the evening to allow more members of the public to attend.
Should North Yorkshire Council hold some of it's meetings in the evening and if they did would you go?
That's the question being posed by members of Filey's local area committee.
Filey Councillor Sam Cross thinks evening meetings could be better for both councillors and local residents.
Councillors on the Filey, Thirsk and Malton area committee also say having some evening meetings would take pressure off the elected representatives, most of who have full time jobs.
Councillor Lindsay Burr would welcome a hybrid approach.
But not everyone agrees that evening meetings would be a good thing. Councillor Alyson Baker says there already many parish council meetings that take place in the evening, she thinks moving North Yorkshire Council meetings to the evening could cause clashes.
Councillor Nigel Knapton is chair of the Thirsk & Malton Area Committee, of which Filey is a part. He points out that not everyone who works does so during the day.
Councillors on the committee have suggested one solution might be to improve the technology used for North Yorkshire Council Committee meetings so that more of them can be live streamed to the public. It was also suggested that there could be more use of video conferencing technology to enable councillors to attend meetings remotely.
