Another last minute Lewis Maloney goal has sent Scarborough Athletic to the fringes of a play-off place in the NPL Premier.
Boro leapfrogged rivals Whitby Town to go just one point from the play-offs on Saturday.
Jono Greening's men won 1-0 at Stalybridge Celtic after Maloney's late goal- the former Whitby midfielder had secured a draw against Morpeth with a last-gasp free-kick.
Greening told Scarborough Athletic TV he felt it was a deserved victory:
Meanwhile, Town were beaten 2-0 at home by Atherton Collieries.
It's now four league games without a win for the Seasiders who drop to seventh in a crowded play-off picture.
Town joint manager Lee Bullock told Whitby Town TV that something needs to change:
Bridlington Town took another step to NPL East safety after beating Pontefract 2-0.
Danny Earl was the hero with a goal in each half at the Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.
The only sour point was a sending off for Brid skipper Nathan Hotte.
Brid Town TV caught up with player-manager Brett Agnew after the game:
This is the Coast is committed to providing a daily local news service for the Yorkshire Coast. We are a small locally owned and operated business which employs professional journalists and reporters. We do not receive any public funding or grants and we are entirely funded by our local commercial operations. We enjoy fabulous support from local businesses who work with us on their advertising and marketing campaigns, but the cost of providing high quality, well researched, fact checked local news coverage is significant.
If you appreciate what This is the Coast does, and would like to help support our journalism, please consider supporting us on a monthly basis today.
A small contribution from all our readers would really help support independent journalism for the Yorkshire Coast.
Scarborough and Whitby's Member of Parliament, Alison Hume, has announced her intention to launch a petition to campaign for the return of stroke services to the Yorkshire Coast.
