Thousands of local school pupils will be visiting Scarborough Spa this week for the annual Science and Engineering week, which gets underway today.
Local firms will be delivering a hands on exhibition celebrating science, technology, engineering and maths.
Simon Bull from Scarborough Business Ambassadors says that tonight there will also be the opportunity for the rest of us to take a look as well.
Over the next three days hundreds of local school students will get hands on with technology at the special event at Scarborough Spa.
dozens of employers and organisations will be engaging with about 3,000 students aged from seven to 19 from across North Yorkshire to show how science, design, technology, engineering and mathematics skills make a difference.
Exhibitors focus on interactive, hands-on activities and students will be greeted by a mobile robot.
Simon Bull from Scarborough Business Ambassadors says it's a great opportunity for people to see what local firms are up to.
The event is run by the Scarborough Business Ambassadors, with the support of NYBEP (North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership).
Simon says the 14th outing for the Science and Engineering week will see a number of innovations
The science and technology used to keep Scarborough Hospital running will also be on show with a special show from the local NHS, Simon says their input is really valuable.
Many of the local schools have built the Science and Engineering week into their learning plans, Simon says it's a great example of how local businesses and schools can work together.
The hands-on exhibition celebrates all things science, technology, engineering and maths with over 30 interactive activities from local and national businesses and education providers. Exhibits will include opportunities to have a go at building robots, F1 racing, bus building, computer games and cyber security.
The free open evening runs from 6pm to 8pm this evening (Tuesday October 10th) at Scarborough Spa. The event is free to attend and booking is not required.
Organisers say tonight's event also provides a fantastic opportunity to speak with local employers as you discover the careers available along the coast.
