Scarborough's Disability Action Group is celebrating it's 35th birthday today with a Community volunteer fair.
The group has been providing information and advice on a wide range of key disability issues since it was formed in 1989.
DAG Chair - Ian Whitfield - says today's event, which is also marking national volunteer's week, is a chance for them to work with a number of other local groups.
The event takes place at Wreyfield Drive Methodist Church from 12pm to 3pm today and is dedicated to connecting individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities in the community.
The Volunteers Fair will feature community organizations, nonprofits, and aspiring volunteers to come together under one roof, attendees will have the chance to explore various volunteer roles and connect with organizations.
The Stephen Joseph Theatre Community Engagement Department will also be holding workshops and there will be a special performance from Creative Day Care Scarborough.
Chair - Ian Whitfield - says the event today will be a showcase for 15 local groups who all rely on volunteers.
The Volunteers Fair is free and open to all members of the community.
Ian said:
“One of the most rewarding things in life can be giving your time to make a positive difference to others in your community, Please do come down to the fair and see what opportunities there may be for you to help.
It is Scarborough DAG’s 35th birthday and also National Volunteer Week so we decided to celebrate with a volunteer day, also a very big thank you to Andy Stubbs from Let it Brie for making the event happen”
