The Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers is again organising the town’s Community Fair, which this year will take place on Saturday, August 12 from 10.00am along Westborough.
The event that first started in 1999 enables local charities and community groups to attract customers to their stalls to generate much needed cash for their respective organisations.
Club President, David Francis said:
“Many organisations have already booked space this year but we have room for more and hoping for new groups to join the street party.”
“It’s always a real treat on the day to see what each organization does to attract customers to their stalls, from terrific tombolas, riotous raffles, to colourful cakes and marvellous marmalades, with the odd surprise ideas to tempt people to spend their money,”
This year the Rotary Club are also looking to build on the success of last year with the support again of the Yorkshire Coast BID by providing prizes for the three best dressed stalls.
The Charter Mayor, Councillor John Ritchie will officially open the Fair, together with judging the “best dressed stall”, which gives the stallholders the opportunity to be creative and inventive with their table displays and fancy-dress themes.
The Rotary Club will itself have a stall to promote its fundraising work in the local community, as well as its key projects and events.
The Cavaliers will be celebrated their 45th anniversary in May his year after receiving their charter on 10th May, 1978. The club has over 30 members and meets on Wednesday evenings at the Downe Arms Country House Inn, starting at 7.30pm.
Its not too late to reserve a table at a cost of only £20; so email Scarborough.Cavaliers@gmail.com if your organization would like to be involved.
