The Rainbow Centre, a Scarborough-based charity supporting vulnerable people in the local community, has spread some Christmas joy by providing a takeaway, slap-up turkey dinner for people in need.
All delivered in a Covid secure and socially distanced way, a team of McCain employees volunteered their time to cook up the festive lunch which was handed out at the Rainow centre this lunchtime.
McCain Foods have donated all of the food required to the charity which provides support to people in the community who are homeless, vulnerable and in crisis.
Preparing this gigantic feast, has taken two days of meticulous planning. Turning up the heat in the kitchen, were McCain’s very own Chefs, busy roasting the Turkey and preparing the veg.
Today the mouth-watering food, was cooked up and transported into disposable boxes. It was then delivered from McCain Foods in two batches to The Rainbow centre, where Trish Kinsella, The Rainbow Centre Manager, and her team distributed the meals in a Covid safe environment.
Trish said:
“This year we’ve had to adapt to cover all the Covid-19 extra precautions, so we can still serve those in need. This support enables us to provide a lovely Turkey meal for members of the community; we’re so grateful to McCain for delivering it in two slots, ensuring it stays piping hot, as many do not have the facilities to reheat the meal.”
“All the food is given, so we don’t have to raise any funds, so on behalf of all the people who benefit I would like to thank McCain for their generous support.”
The Rainbow Centre has provided early Christmas day meals for those in need, for more than 16 years, alongside their many other community support initiatives.
