Scarborough Borough Police Response Times Improving

North Yorkshire Police says it is now responding more quickly to urgent calls for help.

North Yorkshire Police says it's response times to urgent 999 calls has improved.

The force is meant to respond to "immediate grade" calls within 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural locations.

In September the force was only getting to 54% of incidents within the time-frame, this month that figure is 75%.

Deputy Chief Constable - Mabs Hussain - says there are still challenges to overcome.

The Scarborough Borough has the second highest number of "immediate grade" response calls in the force area.

Assistant Chief Constable - Mike Walker - says there has been a marked improvement in their response times over recent months.

ACC Walker says further work is being carried out to improve the response rates further especially in rural areas where the deployment of staff is being looked at.
