Scarborough Back in Form With Promotion Races in Divisions Below

Folkton & Flixton and Bridlington are looking for promotion to join Scarborough, with Pickering still 100% a division further down.

Boro chose to bat first at Stamford Bridge, in Yorkshire Premier North and needed a 96-run third wicket partnership to recover from 17/2 early on.

Matthew Turnbull flourished with 79, alongside Gihan Maligaspe Koralage, who struck 45.

Clark Doughney's unbeaten 39 then helped the visitors to a competitive 218/7 from their 50 overs.

Boro's bowlers then set to work with Koralage the star taking 5/44 as the home side were dismissed for 160 in the 44th over.

Elsewhere in the division, Driffield Town suffered defeat as visitors Stamford Bridge amassed 295/6 from their 50 overs.

George Drury took 3/66 but they knew it would be an uphill battle.

However, at 141/2 and opener Alec Drury going well, they had a great chance.

Noah Kelly made 54 and skipper George Drury 41 but no-one else could stay with Alec Drury for long enough.

Drury carried his bat for a superb 134 from 131 balls but Driff fell 22 runs short, closing on 273/9 from their 50 overs.

Folkton & Flixton are up to second in YPN Championship East after edging a high-scoring clash with Brandesburton.

Charlie Colley was the pick of the villagers' bowlers but the hosts smashed 335/7 from their 50 overs.

But it was the Will Hutchinson show as Folkton & Flixton replied in style.

The opener fired an incredible unbeaten 143 from 149 balls, with excellent support from Elliot Hatton, with 70 and Connor Stephenson, who saw them home with 52 not out.

There were 17 balls remaining when the visitors secured a superb six-wicket win.

Bridlington sit fourth after also securing victory with strong batting.

They won the toss and quickly chose to bat first with wicket-keeper opener Sam Wragg smashing 127 from 108 balls.

Casey Rudd weighed in with 64 as Brid put on 141 for the first wicket, at Duke's Park.

Will Norman added 53 as the hosts posted an impressive 326/4 from their 50 overs.

Strong bowling then restricted visitors Sutton-on-Hull to just 227/8- Steve Janney took 3/48 in a 94-run win.

Pickering stay top of YPN Division One East after seeing off Cottingham with ease.

The hosts were put in and dismissed for 134 in the 45 over.

Max Harland took 4/27, Tim Whincup 3/23 and Tom Snowden an economic 2/18.

The away side then eased to victory with less than half their overs completed- wicket-keeper captain Ryan Taylor top-scored with 51 as just four wickets were lost.

Filey are fourth after a home defeat to Middleton & North Dalton.

In a low-scoring shoot-out, Filey had their visitors at 31/3 at one stage, but they went on to record 196 all out, with three wickets each for messers Dawson and Watson.

Despite being 103/2 at one stage, Filey then collapsed to 164 all out, in the 41st over, to lose by 32 runs.

Whitby's woes continue in North Yorkshire South Durham Division One.

They are now bottom after a 116-run thumping from Norton at the Turnbull Ground.

Both the County Durham sides openers made centuries as they posted 261/6 from their 50 overs.

Steve Allen's superb 5/53 limited the damage as the visitors were 198/0 at one point.

At 76/2 and 106/4, the hosts had hope, with Joe Padmore making 34 and wicket-keeper Charlie Taylor 33, but other than Alf Jacobs' 25, the rest of the side struggled to contribute.

The hosts were eventually dismissed for just 148 in the 42nd over, losing by a mammoth 116 runs.
