Mick Davison, the man credited with the delivery of the clubs East Stand, is stepping down from his role.
Scarborough Athletic have announced that Match Day Operations Director Mick Davison has taken the difficult decision to step down from his position on the clubs Board of Directors.
The club say :
"this is something that Mick has been considering for a while, but being Mick he had some work streams he wanted to complete to benefit our club. "
Chairman Trevor Bull said
"I want to thank Mick for his dedication, his achievements and most of all his personal support during his time on our board. He has played a very important role at our club since we returned to play in the town and has taken the lead in several key areas and projects".
"His grip of financial forecasting, and the systems he has put in place, will continue to aid us with our finance monitoring. Mick was also responsible for ground safety regulations and match day processes which have ensured that we can legally and safely attend matches, having worked closely with the relevant authorities.
His major legacy will be his work on ground improvements. Without doubt we would not have the outstanding East Stand we have today if it wasn’t for the two years of hard work that Mick put in to that project, taking the lead from start to finish. His work on ground improvements continued this season with the opening of our New Boro Shop".
Please take time to give Mick your thanks when you next see him at a game, we have a lot to thank him for. "
Outgoing Director Mick Davison said :
“This has been a very difficult decision as I love the role I have had at the club and the people I have worked with. We have come a long way together since our return to the town. When I retired from my career in education, I immediately stepped into what has become a near full-time voluntary role, helping to put in place the facilities and procedures that were required at the new ground. Because I want to spend more time with my family and the other interests I want to pursue, it is time to retire again! I have said I will continue to help on the financial side of things, giving the club time to set-up alternatives, and I will always be available to help anyone who needs it".
"The volunteers at this club, from the Chairman, the board and all those that help during the week and on match days, are the best in the league and deserve the support of the fans and the town. I want to thank them for helping me in my role and the projects I have taken on. I also want to thank the supporters who have given me their time to help on the ground development projects and all those who have helped to fund them".
"I also want to thank our sponsors, the local businesses in the town who have got behind the club and helped us to grow and develop, as well as Scarborough Borough Council, for their help and support on the ground development projects.”
