A man was handcuffed and leg-strapped during the arrest in Scarborough on Saturday.
North Yorkshire Police say they received a call from a local business owner to report a burglary at their café on the South Cliff in Scarborough at 8:46pm on Saturday (December 14th).
Officers attended the scene, spoke with one of the cafe owners and began the investigation.
The council CCTV operator also began to check footage in the area.
Within the hour, a description had been obtained of the suspect, who popped up on the cameras on Huntriss Row.
As officers approached to arrest the suspect, the CCTV operator called over the radio that the suspect was fighting with officers and asked for assistance on behalf of the officers.
North Yorkshire Police said on Sunday:
"Due to the aggressive behaviour of the suspect, he was handcuffed and leg-strapped, before being carried to the van.
The suspect is still currently in custody as the investigation progresses."
