Saint Catherine’s Joins National Day of Reflection

Saint Catherine’s is taking part in a National Day of Reflection today on the first anniversary of the first UK COVID-19 lockdown.

The day is aimed at giving people chance to reflect on the past year, supporting those who have been bereaved and giving thanks for everyone’s contribution in what has been an incredibly challenging 12 months.

At Saint Catherine’s, a minute’s silence will be held at 12 noon to give time for personal reflection.

Tracy Calcraft, Income and Business Services Director, said:

“It has been a year like no other and we thought it was important to pause and reflect on what has happened over the past 12 months.

“We recognise that it has been such a difficult time for everyone, so we also wanted to take the chance to thank our staff, volunteers and the community as a whole for their unwavering commitment and support towards Saint Catherine’s.

“We have continued to care for patients and provide COVID-secure visiting throughout the pandemic and this has only been possible with a huge team effort across the entire organisation and wider community.”

The National Day of Reflection has been spearheaded by Marie Curie and backed by the UK Government. Prominent buildings and landmarks will also be illuminated across the country.

It is hoped people will help create a nationwide ‘beacon of remembrance’ on their doorsteps by beaming phones, candles and torches into the night sky at 8pm.
