The Chief Executive of Saint Catherine's has written an open letter thanking local fundraisers for their support this year.
Mike Wilkerson says it's been a challenging year for the organisation but that the support from local people has been amazing.
Dear supporters
As Christmas approaches and we reflect on what has been an incredibly challenging year, I wanted to express my most heartfelt thanks for all the support that Saint Catherine’s has received throughout 2020.
Since the pandemic took hold in March, we have all faced huge changes in our lives – and life at Saint Catherine’s has been very different too.
We have faced significant challenges along the way, and still do not know for certain what the future holds regarding COVID-19. But what I can say for certain is that our staff, our volunteers and you – the local community – have been unwavering in your support and hard work, and for that we are incredibly grateful. Words cannot express enough our thanks to you all!
We have seen our supporters taking on lockdown challenges, head shaves, bike rides and all manner of creative fundraising ideas to support patient care at Saint Catherine’s. Hundreds of you got up in the early hours during September to take part in our Sunrise Walk, which raised an incredible £20,000 to help patients and their loved ones receive round-the-clock care.
Your continued support, during 2020 and beyond, is what makes Saint Catherine’s care possible.
On behalf of everyone here, I would like to thank you for supporting Saint Catherine’s and showing that even in the most difficult times, amazing things can still happen. We wish you all the very best for a healthy and peaceful festive season.
Mike Wilkerson
Chief executive, Saint Catherine’s
