Review of Speed Enforcement in North Yorkshire

A new study is going to look at the best ways to reduce speeding on North Yorkshire's roads.

The county's police force is going to commission a team of academics to look at the existing mobile camera van system and see how it fairs against other methods of managing speed.

Assistant Chief Constable - Elliot Foskett - says the study will look at a range of methods of managing excessive speed.

Universities are being asked to help North Yorkshire Police carry out the study into different ways of managing speeding in the county.

Currently the North Yorkshire Force uses a fleet of mobile speed cameras.

North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner - Zoe Metcalfe - says there are a number of factors to consider when assessing which strategies are used to deal with speeding issues.

Superintendent Alex Butterfield says the new review will look at a range of options to managing speeding.
