Renewed Call for Eastfield Dental Practice

Scarborough's MP is being asked to intervene to try and get dental services returned to Eastfield.

It's now nearly two years since Eastfield's dental practice closed leaving, thousands of people unable to access NHS dental care.

Eastfield Councillor, Tony Randerson, says NHS England had said they hoped to have a replacement practice open in Eastfield by the summer but that didn't happen.

Councillor Randerson has asked local MP - Sir Robert Goodwill to get involved.

Mr Goodwill agreed the situation was unacceptable and said he will help, he's concerned the lack of dental provision is putting extra strain on other NHS services like Accident and Emergency.

Sir Robert Goodwill says the shortage of NHS dentistry isn't a problem unique to the Yorkshire Coast.

Mr Goodwill says part of the problem is the way the NHS commissioning system works.
