Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue team say they have decided to cancel their May half marathon event at Ravenscar due to the ongoing COVID situation.
The popular event usually attract people from all over the north of England.
In a post on social media the rescue team say :
"We have sadly had to make the hard decision to cancel our Ravenscar Coastal Half Marathon in May as we were not confident we could deliver a Covid secure environment particularly around the start and finish, we were also not happy in attracting a large number of people into Ravenscar village when the country is not fully out of lockdown.
All those who had their entries carried forward from 2020 should have received an email over the last few days via SIentries detailing their options.
HOWEVER we feel more content over our ability to host the Forest and Moors in September 2021 and have opened the events for entries via SIentries.
These events are signifiant fundraisers for the team and we really appreciate the support we get through your attendance."
The September Half Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday September 5th and will run alongside a 10K on the same day called the Adderstone 10K - described as "a simple and not too challenging 10K around the Adderstone area of Dalby Forest along forest tracks."
The half marathon is open to over 16's the 10k is also open to 13-16 year old's when accompanied by an adult.
Both events can be booked online here https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?elid=Y&event_id=8263
