Police say tourist spots on the Yorkshire Coast have been busier since the easing of the lockdown restrictions but that there have been no major problems so far.
Last weekend was the first since the second stage of the Governments roadmap out of lockdown came in to force.
It coincided with a distinct improvement in the weather.
Chief Inspector Charlotte Bloxham is North Yorkshire Police’s operational lead for the Coronavirus pandemic, she says last weekend went well.
Chief Inspector Bloxham added :
“During the past week (12-18 April 2021), North Yorkshire Police has issued only seven Covid-related Fixed Penalty Notices.
They occurred at the weekend and they were all for indoor gatherings – four in Ripon and three in Scarborough.
In line with the gradual easing of the lockdown, our focus is very much on reacting to high-risk activities such as indoor gatherings."
