Police Probe Bridlington Indecent Exposure

Officers are appealing for information after receiving reports that a man followed a woman home in Bridlington and then indecently exposed himself.

Detective Inspector Andrew Crawforth from Humberside Police's Criminal Investigation Department said:

“Whilst I don’t want to concern people, I do want the local community to be aware of the report, where a man is believed to have followed a woman from West Street to an address on Clarence Avenue, at around 12.35am on Friday 27 December and made attempts to enter the property. Entry was not gained, however he then indecently exposed himself in the street.

‘’The woman has understandably been left distressed and we are providing her with support alongside partnering agencies.

“The man has been described by the victim as white and wearing dark clothing.

‘’We have carried out a number of enquiries and followed up on various leads including reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house enquiries in connection with the incident.

“Understandably this will be concerning for Bridlington residents, and I would like to reassure the community that we are treating this as a priority, and we will not tolerate any form of harm towards women and girls.

“We have increased patrols in and around the area and officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team are continuing to provide additional reassurance to the local community. I’d encourage anyone with any concerns to please come and speak to them.

“If you know who this man is or see anyone acting suspiciously in the area, please call us immediately so that we can apprehend him and question him in relation to these incidents.”

If anyone has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist with enquiries, please call Police on 101 quoting log 13 of 27 November or report via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
