A pop up performing arts festival is taking place in Bridlington today.
Freedom on Tour will see acts from Hull's Freedom Festival take to the streets around Bridlington Spa.
Jo Hawkes is CEO of the Freedom Festival Arts Trust,she says it's a great opportunity to see some world class performers.
Jo says the acts performing in Bridlington today have come from across Europe.
Freedom on Tour is supported by East Riding Arts and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The event will bring amazing international artists to the seaside for free performances throughout the day.
The event will take place on Friday 30 August from 12 – 5pm situated by Bridlington Spa on the seafront and is free to attend.
There are a variety of incredible shows on offer. These include Barrière by Sur Mesure, four artists blending music performance and street theatre atop an old barrier on the seafront, and Tony & Ray Find Their Feet by Rudkin & Hicks, an eccentric dance of slapstick and tomfoolery. Another show on offer is Topa, a traditional Basque country dance & street dance by Kukai Dantza & Brodas Bros.
Councillor Barbara Jefferson, cabinet member for heritage and coastal, said:
“Bridlington is a beautiful coastal town and has a rich love for the arts. Events like this give our residents the opportunity to experience something new and bring world renowned performance art to our doorstep.
“Our tourism industry is already thriving, but this is yet another chance for us to promote Bridlington as the cultural hub it is.”
