YMCA volunteers are inviting members of the public to join them to celebrate the recent refit of their Filey fundraising shop.
The local community of Filey is about to re-open its hub of compassion and support as YMCA proudly announces the grand re-opening of its charity shop, dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of locals. The shop has been refreshed and expanded.
The store has been a firm favourite, located within the station shops and YMCA was proud to invest, renewing it's a commitment to fostering community wellbeing. The latest charity shop will offer a wide array of high-quality, affordable items including clothing and accessories, bric-a-brac, books, entertainment, childrens-wear and toys. A great balance of alternatives to the existing site, which provides furniture, homeware and electricals.
The driving force behind the decision to expand the charity shop is a testament to the local community’s generosity and unwavering support to making a difference in the lives of young people and families in need. By providing a platform for community members to donate gently used items, the shop aims to create a cycle of generosity that will benefit the entire community - starting with YMCA Yorkshire Coast who are working in collaboration with the YMCA Filey store.
YMCA Yorkshire Coast, which is based in Scarborough and includes the YMCA Theatre, receives a share of the income from the shop as well as space for expanding our reach.
Liam Downey is the Chief Executive of YMCA Yorkshire Coast:
YMCA is calling on the generous spirit of the community to contribute to the success of their newest charity shop addition, with all donations welcomed with open arms. Your support will not only help the environment by promoting sustainable practices, but also contribute directly to the wellbeing of your neighbours.
Liam emphasised that message that it isn't just a shop:
The grand re-opening celebration is scheduled for Wednesday 21st August at 2pm, and YMCA invites everyone to join in the festivities.
Liam paid tribute to the shop staff:
In addition to welcoming donations, YMCA is actively seeking volunteers to join the team.
They say:
'Whether you have a passion for customer service, organisation, or simply want to be part of a community-driven initiative, there's a place for you in store.'
