
North Yorkshire is now home to 840 Ukrainians who were forced to flea their homeland after the Russian invasion of their country.
On the even of the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine, it's been revealed that over 1,100 Ukrainians have found safe refuge in the county over the last year, with some now having moved to other areas of the country.
County Council executive member, David Chance, says the county continues to play it's part.
Nearly 12 hundred Ukrainians have found safe haven in North Yorkshire over the last 12 months.
Tomorrow marks a year since the Russian invasion of their homeland.
North Yorkshire County Council says some of those who came to the county have now moved on but 840 Ukrainians are now living in the county.
Executive Member - Councillor David Chance - says additional support has been provided to host families over recent weeks.
Scarborough Council is set to receive more than £700,000 of funding to acquire housing for Ukrainian and Afghan refugees within the borough. Scarborough and Harrogate Borough Councils are the only authorities within North Yorkshire to have been awarded an allocation from the government fund.
