Whitby's wretched form continued with a third straight defeat and with it, they dropped back into the NPL Premier's bottom four, after defeat to Hyde.
The hosts started brightly enough when Layton Watts' 8th-minute cross was headed into the path of Adam Gell, by Matty Tymon, only for Callum Hiddleston to save.
However, it was Hyde who took the lead, on 24 minutes, when Jack Redshaw's through ball split the home defence and released the overlapping Callum Spooner, who laid back for Brad Holmes to clip low past Shane Bland.
Whitby had a great chance to level, eight minutes before the break. Again it was Watts and Tymon combining, but again, the latter's shot was parried by Hiddleston.
At the other end, Spooner fired over the crossbar from distance.
The Seasiders did even the scores, five minutes into the second half. No prizes for guessing the combination as Watts crossed perfectly for Tymon to nod his third goal in as many games past Hiddleston.
The Tigers almost re-took the lead quickly as Bland had to be alert to deny Jordan Scanlon.
However Hyde were not to be denied, with five minutes remaining. A long clearance from Hiddleston found Matthew Fearnley in behind the Whitby defence and he laid off for hotshot Redshaw to clip home the winner.
The North Yorkshire side slip below Matlock Town on goal difference as they approach their last five outings.
