Planners say they are satisfied that sirens wont be a problem.
A new ambulance station for Scarborough won't create a noise issue for local residents.
That's the view of the borough council's planners who say the proposed site on Woodlands Drive has been assessed after concerns were raised about the noise from Ambulance sirens.
Robin Forrester is from the planning team.
Plans for a new Ambulance Station in Scarborough were approved last week.
According to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, it has been searching for suitable sites in Scarborough for over two years “with only a small number of suitable sites identified”.
The site on Woodlands Drive is adjacent to Scarborough Hospital, allowing the ambulance service “to minimise staff time and fuel usage lost whilst travelling between the hospital and the ambulance station”.
The ambulance service say the new station seeks to provide modern fit-for-purpose facilities for accident and emergency, the patient transport service, as well as facilities for the maintenance and preparation of ambulances based in Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington, Kirkbymoorside, and Whitby.
Planning officer Robin Forrester says concerns around siren testing have been addressed.
