A group of songwriters lead by Jamie Lawson have been huddled away in Whitby this week on a song writing retreat.
The town has become a popular location for the creative sessions which are organised by the Buddy Holly Foundation.
Tonight the fruits of their work will be given a world premier at a special performance in Robin Hood's Bay
Jamie says some of the songs could make it on to his next album.
The new music will get it's world premier in Robin Hood's Bay tonight in a special performance at the Cove.
The Buddy Holly foundation puts on the retreats to help new writers get in to the industry by teaming them up with existing song writers.
Jamie Lawson found fame in 2015 when he became the first artist to sign to Ed Sheeran's new record label, he then re-released a song he'd had success with in Ireland in 2011 - "Wasn't Expecting That" made number 6 in the UK charts, Lawson later performed the song in an episode of Australian soap Neighbours.
Jamie says it's likely he will perform the song tonight, but say the week in Whitby has been productive and there are some great new songs lined up for tonight's performance.
The Songwriters Showcase is at the Cove in Robin Hood's Bay tonight from 7:30pm. Tickets need to be purchased in advance.
