Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team have been called out twice this week to help Ambulance crew rescue injured people.
On Thursday the team were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist in the evacuation of an injured cyclist on a bridleway on the Yorkshire Wolds.
Their location was reported as being 400 metres from a drivable road and because of the mechanism of injury we were asked to package the patient in one of the rescue team's vacuum mattresses and carry the patient back to the road and a waiting ambulance on one of their Bell stretchers.
Fifteen team members and two team vehicles deployed for two and three quarter hours.
The day before the volunteer team had been called to assist in the treatment and evacuation of an injured mountain biker in Dalby Forest.
After initial assessment and treatment by one of their doctors for shoulder and chest injuries the patient was evacuated to a waiting ambulance via a team stretcher. Fourteen team members deployed for two and a half hours.
The local rescue team have been called out 46 times so far this year.
