Last Chance for East Yorkshire Residents in Need to Apply for £200 Grant Payment

East Riding residents are being urged to apply for £200 funding from the Household Support Fund, before the Thursday 28 February deadline.

To be eligible for the payment, applicants must be an East Riding resident and to have not received financial support from the Household Support Fund in 2024/25.

Residents must also be receiving housing benefit, housing element of universal credit, or council tax support. They must have been receiving a means tested benefit for at least three continuous months, not be in employment, and have less than £1000 in savings

East Riding of Yorkshire Council was awarded £2 million in the latest round of the scheme, to help local people in need, provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

As part of its Help For Households campaign, the council is encouraging people to apply for the money, which is on offer to help residents who are struggling with bills, cost of food and groceries, and other living costs.

People without access to the internet can claim by calling the council on 01482 393939.

People who are successfully entitled should receive their payment within 20 days of making the application.

Residents who are currently receiving council tax support and meet the eligibility criteria will also receive payments automatically.

Councillor Nigel Wilkinson, East Riding of Yorkshire’s cabinet member for finance and governance said

“It’s vital that families and households that need help apply for this scheme in time, and I highly encourage those eligible to make an application as soon as possible.

We know that some households are struggling with the cost of living, and encourage everyone to spread the word to ensure those in need are able to receive the help we are providing.”
