
The lack of NHS dentists in the Scarborough borough has been highlighted again this week.
The borough council has agreed to sell land it owns at Eastfield for the development of affordable housing.
Local Councillor Tony Randerson says more housing will put more pressure on already stretched services in the town.
We told you last week how the My Dentists service in Eastfield has announced it is closing in April.

Patients are finding it impossible to get NHS treatment elsewhere in the borough.
Borough councillor Liz Colling says its a "Huge Issue" across the borough and the county.
Councillor Carl Maw agrees that the problem accessing NHS dental treatment is affecting large numbers of people across the borough.
The {my}dentist practise on Dunslow Road in Eastfield has written to it's patients advising them that they are closing at the end of April.
The practice say difficulty recruiting Dentists to the area and increasing running costs are to blame for the closure.
NHS England commissions dental services in England and is required to meet the needs of their local population for both urgent and routine dental care.
We asked NHS England for an interview about the situation in the Scarborough Borough, they said.
"Unfortunately no one is available for interview but we’re committed to commissioning a new primary care dental service for the Scarborough area to ensure the needs of the local people continue to be met."
