The Kingfisher Swimming Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to water safety on the Yorkshire Coast by presenting a donation to the Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund to support the Swim Safe programme.
The donation of £400 will directly contribute to the delivery of vital sea safety lessons for local children.
The money was raised through a sponsored walk held by the Kingfisher Swimming Club last summer.
Kath Minghella, the committee chair of Kingfisher Swimming Club says the member of the club have been fundraising for a number of local causes.
The Swim Safe programme, supported by the Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund, provides crucial open water safety education for children. Donna Loveland, chair of the Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund, expressed her gratitude, saying that without the help of the donations they wouldn't be able to deliver the Swim Safe sessions each August.
The Swim Safe sessions cater to children aged 7 to 14 years who can already swim 25 metres.
The Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund was established in memory of Andrew McGeown, who lost his life in treacherous sea conditions while attempting to rescue his dog ten tears ago.
Andrew's Sister, Donna Loveland, says his memory now empowers the Swim Safe programme to teach water safety to local children in Scarborough.
The Kingfisher Swimming Club says it is continuing its fundraising efforts with another sponsored walk planned for Sunday the 22nd of June around Marine Drive.
The Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund says it will be running it's Swim Safe sessions again in Scarborough in August.
