
There has been a big drop in the COVID infection rate in the Scarborough borough, but a senior NHS health official says it's not the time to sit back.
Two weeks ago, the average infection rate was 566 cases for every 100 thousand people, now it's down to 287.
Decreases in the figure have also occurred across the rest of the county but nowhere has the fall been as dramatic as in the Scarborough borough which has seen a 43% decline in the last two weeks.
But Amanda Bloor, from the NHS in the county, says we shouldn't be complacent and that there have still been a significant number of people needing hospital treatment for COVID this week:
There were 121 people being treated for COVID in North Yorkshire's Hospitals this week, 19 of them were in Scarborough Hospital.
The North Yorkshire average infection rate is now below the English average, having been above the all England Rate for a number of weeks. The North Yorkshire figure now stands at 419, the all England figure is 447.
However, Amanda warns that number could easily go back up:
