GCSE Day on the Yorkshire Coast

Students across the country, including along the Yorkshire Coast, have been collecting their GCSE and BTEC results.

North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for education, learning and skills, Cllr Annabel Wilkinson, said:

“Today we recognise the achievements of all our learners who have received their GCSE and equivalent results and huge congratulations to them all.

“These results are an important testimony and a credit to our fantastic teachers who are so dedicated to our students, enabling them to achieve their very best.

“I wish all students every success with their next steps in life, wherever that may be. Their achievements are inspiration to the younger students.”

Scarborough University Technical College (UTC) said this year’s results reflect the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of their students and staff.

Principal Helen Dowds commented:

"We are delighted with the continued improvement in our exam results, which is a testament to the exceptional effort from both students and staff. At Scarborough UTC, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of engineers, scientists, and technologists, and these results demonstrate that by attending the UTC, our students are fully equipped to embrace the next stage of their specialist learning, ready for employment."

Filey School is celebrating record breaking GCSE results yet again this year. Students have exceeded expectations and surpassed previous results to achieve impressive GCSE successes. With progress at an all-time high and some outstanding individual performances, its celebrations all round for this flourishing school.

Headteacher Michelle Britton said:

"I'm thrilled with the progress of our students who have shown remarkable resilience and perseverance throughout the pandemic and beyond. Their success is testament to their hard work and the dedication of the staff who have taught and supported them so ably. We are looking forward to building upon this success in the future in partnership with Delta Academies Trust Education Exchange who have already been instrumental in facilitating our students' progress."

Scalby School Head, Chris Robertson said:

"The school has achieved its most successful results in it's history, an achievement that in September when we had to close approximately 60% of our teaching spaces seemed impossible.

"Attainment results across the range of measure are well above historical national averages and surpass the schools results in previous years when examinations have been sat:

"The Scalby class of 2024 have experienced much disruption during their time in secondary education, due to RAAC and in Year 7 and Year 8 due to the pandemic. Despite these challenges our students have achieved incredibly well across the full range of GCSE and Vocational Level 2 qualifications and will continue to do so within their chosen new destinations."

Councillor Victoria Aitken, East Riding Council cabinet member for children, families, and education, said:

"Congratulations to all of our pupils who received their GCSE results today!

"I hope each student achieves the grades they aimed for, and I wish them great success in their future paths, whether that be in further education, training, or their chosen career.

"A big thank you to the dedicated and hardworking teachers for the support they give in helping students reach their full potential.”

Headlands School Executive Headteacher, Sarah Bone, said:

"Students achieved over 100 more grade 9-4’s this year, in comparison to 2023, and over 150 grade 5’s.  This is brilliant! We are delighted with the Class of 2024's results. Good luck to everyone in their next steps."

Bridlington School Headteacher, Kate Parker-Randall, said:

“I am immensely proud of all our Year 11 students. These results are not just numbers on a page; they represent bright futures. Our students will continue to thrive in their next steps, with more than ever choosing to progress into our sixth form.”
