Fundraising Boost For Scarborough Athletic Fan Zone

Travel group Valley Bar Seadogs have pledged to raise £10,000 and have launched their appeal by donating £2,500.

Scarborough Athletic are delighted to be supporting the campaign:

The Valley Bar Seadog Committee have set themselves the target of raising £10,000 towards the Fan Zone project. With the support of the group members, club member shareholders and the wider fan community we hope that together they can achieve this goal. The Fan Zone will enhance the matchday experience, as well as an additional revenue stream for the club. The project will provide the opportunity for the club to have its first ‘owned and controlled’ area since formation, with an office, shop, storage and bar.The club is making progress with the Premier League funding bid, planning permissions and land lease, with the aim for works to begin this summer. Further updates will follow with the progress of the project. This campaign allows fans to get involved and help create the new Fan Zone as well as ensuring that Jono’s playing budget continues to grow.

Valley Bar Seadogs have shared details on how they're planning on raising the money:

Last year, we decided to focus our fundraising efforts into an account, building a pot of money that we could use to take some spending burden away from the Football club on projects or items that would directly benefit the fans experience on matchdays.
With the club announcing the Fanzone project, this fits the exact criteria our fundraising account was designed for. We approached the board several weeks ago with the intent of taking as much of the financial burden away from the club (and Jono's playing budget next season) as we could. After the Premier League grants are taken into account, the club will be left with a £10,000 cost to cover, with the potential to increase to £15,000. We have set out an initial £10,000 fundraising campaign, that will launch Today with a donation of £2,500 from the Valley Bar Seadogs fundraising account into the giving page to get it going. This £2,500 is money that has already been Fundraised from past events and functions.
To support this campaign, we have a number of events, games and fundraising activities planned over the coming months that we hope will be supported by all our members and wider community of supporters of Scarborough Athletic F.C fans.
