The Environment Agency has warned of flooding from Whitby to Filey on Sunday, with Scarborough worst affected.
They say:
This flood warning has been issued due to forecast overtopping waves and spray expected as a result of high spring tides and strong winds.
Consequently, flooding of property and roads and farmland is expected on the high tide between 03:30 AM and 08:30 AM, and also for the high tide between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM on Sunday 20/02/2022.
Areas most at risk are properties on Foreshore Road. Coastal conditions are expected to remain unsettled on subsequent tides and further warnings may be issued.
Please put your flood plan into action and be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
There are also flood alerts for the stretch of coast fromn Whitby to Filey. The Environment Agency warn:
The flood alert for the North Sea Coast from Whitby to Filey has been issued due to forecast overtopping waves and spray expected as a result of high spring tides and strong winds, particularly between 06:30 AM and 08:00 AM and also between 4:00 PM on Sunday 20/02/2022.
Strong winds are likely to produce overtopping waves and spray along the coast.
