The final wooden style on the Cleveland Way has been retired.
Back in 1989 there were 127 wooden stiles on the Cleveland Way, today there are none.
The last one was removed by Maintenance Ranger Andrew and North York Moors National Park volunteers at Widdy Field on the popular stretch of the trail between Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.

The Park Authority have been replacing the styles with wooden gates as part of a commitment to improving accessibility within the National Park
The park team say:
"We have now successfully removed our last wooden stile on our iconic Cleveland Way National Trail and replaced it with a wooden gate.
We hope even more people can now experience this beautiful and ever-changing landscape with greater ease!"
