Filey's MP is confident that the dualling of the A64 is high up the agenda
Kevin Hollinrake says it's frustrating that any work on dualling the road won't happen before 2030, after a raft of roads projects were delayed back in March, but the MP says a decision should be made next year.
The Government announced in March that a number of road upgrade projects, including the A64, had been delayed by up to five years.
In a ministerial statement, Secretary of State for Transport Mark Harper said the scheme would continue to be developed, in line with the statutory process, but works were now being considered for the five years after 2030, rather than the expected roadbuilding scheme in the five years before 2030.
He said the “extra time” would help ensure better planned and efficient schemes could be deployed more effectively.
